SEPTEMBER 2015 MEMBER INTERVIEW WITH KENREN[/u][/i]
1. How did you find GHF/TW, and when did you join?
I originally joined for less than a month many years ago, and the only horse I remember owning at that time is one of my current studs, Seattle Sun. After I left it was in my mind for a long time, so I rejoined September Y13.
2. How did you get your username, is there any specific meaning attached to it?
I've used this name for probably seven or eight - maybe ten? - years. I stole the name from a character I really liked in a book.
3. What is your favorite thing about GHF/TW?
The community is first and foremost. I've been a lot of places that are incredibly catty, but everyone here is like family - you can get mad at each other but it all turns out fine in the end.
4. Describe yourself, how tall are you? What color are your eyes and hair? What is your clothing style? What month and day is your birthday? What is your astrological sign? Chinese animal?
March 3rd, Pisces, Rooster. I'm 5'4", with blue-grey eyes and dirty blonde hair. My clothes lean toward function rather than fashion for the most part, unless I've been shopping with my sister.
5. Do you have a mantra/saying/adage?
The thing that got me through last summer was 'can't even be bothered'. Basically it helped me to chill out and not take things too seriously, and I remind myself of it as often as possible. It helps me to not get worked up about small things and take things so personally, which was always an issue in the past.
6. What are your favorite activities?
I read a lot, though I've become somewhat elitist and I re-read more than I pick up new things. I enjoy fishing, riding of course, and camping.
7. Who is your favorite famous horse trainer?
D. Wayne Lukas is my hero.
8. Do you collect anything?
I collected keychains when I was on my England/Ireland trip many years back, but for the most part I don't hold on to too many things.
9. Do you have a job? Are in you in school?
I graduated from Michigan State University in May and I'm currently working at Ashford Stud as part of the Kentucky Equine Management Internship.
10. Do you have pets?
Not currently, thought the managers' dogs always seem to end up at our house.
11. What kind of car do you drive?
A stupid Ford Taurus. I'm looking to get a pickup in the next two years.
12. Favorite/least favorite.
Animal: I could watch otters all day/I have a deep hatred of Opossums.
Book: I have many books that I'll re-read over and over, but my favorite would have to actually be a manga series called Saiyuki/I don't really have a least favorite 'cause I tend to not read them if they don't appeal to me.
Color: Seafoam green and other blue-greens/Orange is an awful color on me...
Drink: Orange pop (Fanta, Crush, etc)/Any Diet pop.
Food: Good barbeque - pulled pork mostly/Onions
Game: We talking video games? Because I'm a Pokémon girl all the way/I'm not good at poker
Holiday: Christmas / New Years, because that means the holiday season is done for awhile
Movie: Tie between Remember The Titans and Fired Up / Any movie that is a teen sensation, because the acting tends to be sub-par for me. Twilight, The Hunger Games, etc.
Music: Light Rock / Anything that has asinine lyrics
Riding Style: I'll happily do either, but I learned western first and I'm most comfortable there.
TV Show: Supernatural and Psych are tied, but I also just fell in love with Outlander / Pretty Little Liars needs to stop.
Weather/Season: Fall / Post-Christmas winter. Snow is useless and awful and cold after Christmas.

I learn quickly and I'm very determined and driven

I'm not incredibly confident when it comes to social things, and I hate phones more than anything.

I have a strange mixture of nerd and redneck going. I love (certain) anime and manga as well as digital art, but I also love fishing and hunting.
16. What is your most embarrassing moment?
Ah, hard saying, but probably walking into an exam an hour late. I was mortified for days after.
17. What is your most triumphant moment?
Probably the moment I got my internship acceptance, as it's everything I've ever worked toward.
18. What is your worst memory?
Ah, let's keep things upbeat xD
19. What is your best memory?
Basically any time my whole family has been together, mostly on Christmas.
20. What do you fear?
Dinosaurs and sharks, for much the same reasons. Also heights.
21. What do you dream?
In literal terms? Generally crap that makes no sense when I wake up. In life goal terms, basically anything that has me working with young horses.
22. Describe yourself in five words.
Independent, determined, quiet, steadfast, and stubborn
23. Do you have any secrets?
Of course!
24. Do you hide anything about yourself?
I generally don't flaunt the nerd part of myself in average company
25. Do people misunderstand you in any way?
Everyone feels misunderstood in some ways. Overall I'm a pretty transparent person.
26. Explain why you are the way you are.
Everyone has past trauma and problems and life-shaping issues. Mine happened to be an alcoholic dad. However, the older I get the more I realize that regardless of the issues thrown at us that we can't control, making excuses only cripples us and lets the problems win. My past is continuing to make me stronger. Traveling to different parts of the world has aided this mentality as well - you can't look at the slums of Peru and still think you have it bad in some way. Take what you're given and do the best you can with it.
27. If you have three genie wishes, what would you wish for and why?
Honestly, one of the wishes for me has already come true - meet some famous racehorses and get hands on with the foals. However, for the other two it would probably be unlimited funds (because who likes worrying about money) and unlimited vacation time to travel the world with said funds.
